On Commenting

I enjoy hearing from my readers, whether they have comments, questions, or just want to drop a line and say they’ve enjoyed my site.

If I enjoy hearing from other people you might wonder why more commenting opportunities aren’t enabled on this website. The short answer is that I’ve had a bad experience with commenting. Past trouble with comment spam has made me aware of the dangers and hassles involved in maintaining an open venue for commenting. For years I’ve kept my comments closed, but recently I have been toying with the idea of opening some of my material to comments again. I’m still wavering. For a time I opened comments on one page for those who wished to leave a public note, but it seems my spam filtering software is not as good as it one was, because the amount of spam slipping through on just this one page became too much of a hassle.
